Harambee Features
Harambee has 2 main user types: Admin and Members.
Admins are those who create groups and manage the recordings in the group.
Members are those who are invited to the group by the admin in order to view their contributions and other records.
The Admin has the following options for recording:
1. Recording Contributions for purposes
Usually in a group like an Ex-student group or Njangi group, you have regular contributions that are expected from members such as Registration Contribution, Uniform Contribution etc.
The Admin therefore can create these contribution Purposes and record contributions from Members in the “Contributions” Tab in a group.
1.1 Create Members
In order to record a contribution, you first need to create at least one member. This is done from the Member’s Tab under the Contribution’s Tab.
1.2 Create Purposes
Similarly you cannot record a contribution if you don’t have a reason or purpose for the contribution. So on the Purpose Tab you need to as well to create at least one purpose before you can record a contribution.
1.3 Inviting Members
After creating a member in your group you can invite the person associated with that member profile to join your group on Harambee which will enable them view their contributions without the possibility to edit. The pictures below demonstrate how to generate an invitation link in order to invite a person into your group.
2. Recording Incomes and Expenses
Although the contributions is a source of income, contributions are not the only source of income that groups usually have. There can be other sources of income such as loans returned with their interest, or external donations from well wishers of the group or returns from joint ventures of the group like the returns from a Christmas concert organised.
The Admin can record this other sources of income as well as record the expenses or outgoing money from the group in the “Balance sheet” Tab in a group.
3. Recording Meeting notes and taking attendance of members.
As well as recording finances, the admin also can record under the “Meetings” Tab in a group, the meeting minutes of the group and take attendance of those who attended.
4. Assign Edit Rights or Sharing Admin responsibility
As you might imagine, recording the finances and also recording the minutes of meetings can be a lot of work for a single Admin. Also, in many group structures the responsibility of recording finances is separated from that of recording meeting notes and taking attendance and these separate responsibilities are assigned to different individuals, for instance, a Financial Secretary and a Secretary General respectively.
Therefore in our Harambee app we allow the possibility for more than one person to manage a group via the assigning of edit rights.
The admin can re-assign an edit right to another group member who has joined the group by touching the 3 vertical dots beside a group item and selecting the option of “Re-Assign Rights”.
The Admin can reassign the following edit rights:
- Admin Right
In this case, the entire group management or ownership is completely transferred to the member who is a Harambee user.
- Edit Contributions Right
Right to record contributions from members is transferred to the member who is a Harambee user.
- Edit Balance Sheet Right
Right to record other incomes other than the contributions and to record expenses is transferred to the member who is a Harambee user.
- Edit Meetings Right
Right to record meeting notes and take attendance of participants of meetings is transferred to the member who is a Harambee user.
